Many other “locksmith” companies are not as trustworthy as us, so if you have to phone another locksmith company, we recommend that you watch out for the following tricks:

-Bait and Switch. This is an illegal practise, whereby you are quoted one price over the phone and the price is suddenly loaded up once work has been completed. We always try to give a genuine quote before commencing any work.

-Drilling for Profit. This is where, in the case of a lockout, your lock is drilled when it can be picked easily. You then have to buy a new lock, even though your old one was working perfectly. You would be surprised how many locksmiths can’t actually pick a lock! Always ask on the phone whether your lock will be picked or drilled. We promise that if we drill or damage your lock, we will replace it free of charge.

If you have to phone another locksmith company make sure you ask the following questions:

-Are they members of a reputable locksmith association?
-If you are locked out, will they have to drill the lock?
-Can they give you a quote over the phone?
-Do they carry replacement locks?
-If they don’t carry the lock, will they charge you for time taken to purchase a new one?
-Are they charging a set rate, or open ended hourly rate?
-Are they fully insured?
-Are they a locksmith company, or a call centre subbing work out?
-If fitting a mortice lock on an external door, will it be to insurance standard?

We at Arden Locksmiths DO NOT DRILL FOR PROFIT and we DO NOT BAIT AND SWITCH when giving quotes. Whatever your lock problem, we will be experienced in dealing with similar jobs. We undertake most work at a set price, not an hourly rate. Because of this, most jobs can be priced over the phone.
All of our vans are fully stocked and we carry all of the most up to date locksmith tools and equipment. We aim to deal with and complete most jobs on our first visit.
We are fully insured, fit British Standard BS3621 2004 mortice locks as standard and we do not pass work out to subcontractors.
